Welcome to the1920 Club
The Sharing Place, Incorporated, founded in 1999, is a tax exempt not-for-profit corporation with the Internal Revenue Service. It operates the 1920 Club, a member run drop-in center that is a freestanding and independently operated facility where members voluntarily come for socialization, fellowship, and peer support.
At the 1920 Club members receive support, understanding, education, hope and a strong sense of community which contributes to overcoming the isolation, housing and economic discrimination, abuses and lack of empowerment they often experience.
What is the 1920 Club?
The 1920 Club is a member run drop-in center that is planned, developed, and governed by an incorporated board of directors and members according to their expressed desires and needs.

Members are recovering from psychiatric disabilities.
Members voluntarily choose to participate in the drop-in center activities.
The day to day activities are determined by the center’s active participants, with input from the program director.
The 1920 Club provides a safe, supportive and encouraging environment that helps promote personal growth and enhance self-esteem.
Financial Support is provided by the Alabama Department of Mental Health and from generous community donations.
